About the Firm
Firm founders Jacques Catafago and Tom M. Fini have over a half a century of combined legal experience, along with the highest academic credentials.
Jacques Catafago began his career at Rogers & Wells (now Clifford Chance), after graduating with top honors from law school (summa cum laude, no. 5 class ranking, Law Review Editorship). After making partner at the age of 27 in a full-service New York City law firm, Mr. Catafago founded his own boutique litigation firm in 1990. Since then, Mr. Catafago, an AV and Super Lawyer rated attorney licensed in NY, NJ, Fl and DC, has become the consummate trial lawyer, having successfully tried numerous cases to multi-million dollar verdicts for clients as varied as Air China and a victim of abuse in a homeless shelter awarded the largest punitive damage award in a civil rights case.
Tom M. Fini clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit after graduating from NYU Law School with high honors (cum laude; Edward Weinfeld Prize for distinguished scholarship in the area of federal courts and civil procedure; Managing Editor of Annual Survey of American Law). Mr. Fini then became an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, and went on to become a litigation partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where he was a partner for over 12 years. At these prestigious law firms, Mr. Fini handled hundreds of complex commercial litigation matters involving some of the world’s largest financial institutions.
The result of this combined experience is that Catafago Fini LLP is a highly experienced and aggressive litigation boutique law firm that is dedicated to achieving success for its clients, while utilizing alternative and creative fee structures that match the client’s needs.
